Barrettes- Made for China

I thought barrettes for school-aged girls would be nice. What girl doesn’t like something pretty? My own 8 year old wanted one for herself! I know there are all sorts of tutorials out there to make fun, unique barrettes. Everything from headbands, bobby pins, hair bands etc. AND there all sorts of designs too…circles, crocheted flower versions and so on.

Barrette tutorial

I started off with felt (I prefer wool), embroidery floss and needle, and a button.

I drew my flower shape and cut out 2, the second cut out will cover all of the sewing.

I attached the colored petals with simple stitches.

I then “sandwiched” the second flower shape to the back of the first flower, using a blanket stitch.

I attached the flower to a metal barrette using really strong glue (the equivalent to a hot glue gun). You can also stitch to barrette onto the flower (or other shape). Just be sure it is strong!
