would you make a bid?

I’m not much of a “gala” event goer (who is?), but I did want to support my kids’ school. So when a note came home a few weeks ago asking for basket donations, I started thinking what I could contribute.

Since I have been in the world of “table dots” lately, I decided making an extra would be perfect. I also included a handmade banner and was pleased to raid my wool felt and scraps of some of my favorite fabric.

Of course, a birthday is not complete without a cake. So a “Barefoot Contessa” country cake mix (they are good!) was included along with plates, napkins, streamers, mixing bowl, wooden spoons, and balloons. Man, donating something like this was fun…

The not so fun part was ripping out the edging last night at 9:30. The perfectionist in me (I do have a bit!) could not stand how the fabric was getting all “wavy” once I sewed the 2 circle pieces together. I knew that I had not paid much attention to how taut the fabric was…to my dismay I ripped 2 lines of stitches (I thought the double stitch looked cute, heh.). I was so angry I couldn’t even watch TV or talk to my husband.

Whew. I was glad that after I fixed my problem, the “dot” was to my satisfaction.

Unfortunately, this was a huge set back and my etsy shop will not open until next mid-week some time. This is supposed to be fun, right? So I am keeping with the fun and not stressing out…I mean it’s not like people will be banging down my doors…literally!

Thanks for all of the really nice comments lately! I really appreciate every one that is made…I love it and am not so good at responding…please know it makes my day!

I was wondering if you were going to be entering the etsy world with your shop! Take your time – just let us know when it’ll be open. Good for you!

Oh, I would DEFINITELY make a bid for this– such a great set! I have the same problem with intending to enjoy sewing but getting frustrated. I have noticed lately that I get really crabby while my sewing machine is out, since I feel like I need to get so much done before I have to clean up and put it away (I don’t have a sewing space and it takes over our dining table.) It makes me think thrice before I get started!

Yes I would make a bid! It looks so happy and festive. I’m looking forward to seeing your Etsy shop, but don’t worry about opeing on a specific date, just take your time and get it right.

I’d love to bid on this–in fact, can you whip one up for my kids’ upcoming auction on April 5? :) I can’t wait for your etsy shop to open! A great distraction from packing for our move overseas.

I agree with Meg. I wanted to say that if you put banners like that in your shop…I would buy them for all seasons and celebrations!

Carol – Christy GA told me about your site last year and I have been checking it off and on for some time. I kept meaning to post a comment to let you know I am looking in voyeuristically : ), but always forget. Anyway, I have a blog too, though it’s not public. If you’re interested in seeing what we’re up to, give me a buzz on email and I’ll send you an invite to the blog. We’re at cargillfamily@gmail.com. I love seeing what’s going on with you guys and find your site very inspiring. My life looks a lot more boring! Please give my greetings to Nathan. Love, Anna Beth

Hi, I stopped by from Alicia’s site. I noticed from your comment that you are in the Chicago area. I am a chicagoland mama too. Thought I would come on over and see you.

Your site is beautiful and inspiring! I just love the birthday basket. Someone will bid high I am sure!
