concord grape pie

As promised, I have linked a recipe for concord grape pie. I basically just “googled” it and made my own adjustments. For instance, I made a double crust pie instead of a crumb topping. AND I made a huge mistake and added gorgeous, juicy peaches to the mix. No good. Too juicy- tasted fine, but I like the pure grape flavor.

This weekend, go get some at the Farmer’s Market and have fun. You didn’t think Concord Grape jelly was made up by Smuckers, did you? Get the pure, natural flavor of grape…so wonderful!

Someone brought in a whole box of concord grapes at work today and I was just sitting there thinking that they’d be perfect for jam or something really “grapey.” Now I’ve gotten the inspiration to take some home and make a pie for the office tonight! Thanks!

I loved that pie!
I also have a new appreciation for grapes as I’ve made some jelly/ jam from the wild grapes that grow around here in Aug/Sept. I understand that wild grapes grow indigenously across the country, with Texas having quite a load of them. Pretty fun, and plentiful.

I made the pie last night and it came out firm enough to cut, but I can see why you stuck the peaches in because it just feels like you’re pouring liquid into the crust, but it does firm up. I also put the skins in the food processor for a few pulses because I thought it would be nicer to have smaller bits. My friends at work are making fast work of the pie, so it was a winner! It does taste yummy!
