yumX2 or A is for ADDICTIVE

I love sweets. I love cake. I love frosting. I love to bake. I love to eat. I love angelfood cake. LOVE it.
I am torturing myself by keeping away from sugar, but not last night. Last night I was free from my own self-induced rules and fully enjoyed my mom’s birthday cake. As the evening progressed, my cloud of a cake became deflated due to high humidity, but it still tasted heavenly.
Oh- I cheated. I used a mix, but made the fluffy frosting myself.
Now, today will be a little less sweet. I better go find one of my kids and steal a kiss! Their sweetness can sustain- it’s when they aren’t so sweet I look for the REAL stuff.
What do you do to avoid sugar?
I’m joining in with this fun project and found that this post fits in perfectly with the letter “A”.

I’ve been sugar-free for over two years. I realized I can’t eat just one cookie, or one piece of pie, or one donut, so I gave sugar up entirely.
It’s funny, but as soon as I stopped wanting it, I stopped wanting it.
Kind of like being in love, I guess. There was a time when I couldn’t imagine life without my ex-boyfriend. Now I could care less if I ever see him again.
Same with sugar.

i have tried to avoid sugar copmletely, but sugar always finds me again and then I binge, so moderation is my goal. the biggies are soda, cookies and ice cream, so I have those rarely. otherwise I do okay.
sugar blues = bad news
:)
cake looks terrific (and delicious - were I there I would ask for a small slice and - probably - not eat all the frosting

Ooh that looks soooo good. I am lucky in not having a particularly sweet tooth - I’d take a salty snack most of the time.

Oh my. That cake looks fabulous. There’s absolutely no way on this planet that I could avoid sugar. So, I don’t even try.

hi carol…that cake looks yum! i too would love to see your frosting recipe..i never know what type to put on angel food. my mom used to make an almond glaze.
right there w/you on the sugar. seems i need to do a serious week-long sugar detox every now and then…after that, i don’t crave it so much. i’m not usually very nice during that detox! i try to drink more water when i’m getting off sugar.

Mmmmm… that cake looks amazing. And as far as avoiding the sugar, I have been one of the lucky ones that got gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy and it never left. So I really have to watch the sugar. The others are right…our bodies are addicted to it, just like anything else. And onece you are “off” of sugar you dont want it as much. I find now that a good, ripe piece of fruit fixes my cravings or a good piece of dark chocolate instead of cake and cookies.

Angel-Food is my fav. too; but I’ve never thought of doing it that way, raspberries, (my fav. fruit!) and what looks to be white chocolate-frosting? I would kill for a huge amount of it right now! YUM!
