apples and pears

I had hoped to get a lot more sewing done this weekend, but who was I kidding? I set out all these goals to be productive (and I was!), but somehow I made the mistake of thinking there were more hours in a 24 hour day!
Geesh!
I made Ellie this super cute dress with this very popular fabric. I love this bold, graphic pattern so much and so do a lot of other people…I’ve had this fabric since February and I have seen everything from pants to hot pads to tote bags to dresses. All very fun and fun to see what people do with it!

I can’t remember where I got this pattern. It was either from my sister-in-law or I got it at my favorite thrift for a quarter. The pattern was size 6, but had no problem lengthening the hemline for my petite 8.5 year old.

Perfect dress for bike riding, playing tag, and showing off all of your childhood battle scars! I proudly display mine anytime my kids hurt themselves. Of course I give them sympathy, but I also tell them that these are reminders of childhood and the fun they had…bring it on, I have my band-aids waiting.

Cute girl, cute dress! I made a tote bag out of that fabric this weekend, as a matter of fact. I’m going to post about it later today. I love it too even though it’s everywhere.

I’ve seen that fabric around too and it’s so cute. What a nice dress.

So cute…it looks like it is about the same time period as the mc’call’s pattern I used this weekend…

Carol–I can’t believe your blog–it is so inspiring– so full of bright colors and beauty! Thank you for sharing it with us! Your children are darling! How do you have time to do all of this? I feel like I can barely get my teeth brushed! I enjoyed seeing the picture of when you and Nathan were 18 at the cristo umbrellas. That is exactly how I always think of you–looking just like that! God bless you in your journey!
