a date with my guy

An uncommon event happened this past weekend. I went out with my husband. Alone. All in the name of his 34th birthday. Thanks to my parents, Nathan and I pretended we were a young couple with not a whole lot of restraints.

We decided to visit one of my favorite places in the Chicagoland area. There was a sculpture completed by this man and I was eager to check it out. It was tough to photograph this piece and really convey its presence- really stunning!

We not only visited the Arboretum we also had dinner AND a movie. We saw “The Namesake” and both of us liked the movie quite a bit…I had read the book and was pleasantly surprised by the movie version. Go see it! Better yet, read the book!

On our way home, I was happy to imagine sweet sleeping children and my kind parents that spoiled them!

By the way, the sign in the photos asks what will be the future of the sculpture. It will remain standing through the end of the year and then turned into mulch.

How wonderful that you and husband got such a big space of time together! It sounds like it was lovely day.

Happy Birthday to your love, and the date sounds FABULOUS!

(on a side note, I did read that book, but haven’t seen the movie yet)
