busy, who isn’t?

Last week I was crazy. Besides having my 2 year old niece with us, I was attempting to make most of Peppy’s birthday gifts, a few Easter surprises… and well…I did succeed. Why oh why do I put myself through such challenges?! It’s like I get an idea and if I think about it for a second and start to formulate a plan and start picking out the fabric I have to FINISH. It’s sort of a sickness.

I need to start thinking- RELAX. But sewing is relaxing, I just don’t need a list of 10 projects going on with a deadline.

Anyway, enough of my “to do” sickness. The above girls were given to my daughters and niece for Easter. They all look so cute in their matching dresses and crowns. The crowns were for helping celebrate Peppy’s birthday since we just made Sunday one big celebration. WARNING: this post contains a lot of photos.

I used the Purl Bee’s rabbit pattern again and had fun with the hair and of course making the clothes! Is it odd to be envious of doll clothes? After all this doll and clothes production, I figured Penny would love to wash them and hang it all out to dry…so, the Magic Cabin pulled through and delivered the cutest clothes line. I won’t be surprised if I find myself playing with it!

Strawberry cupcakes fit for my “berry loving” kid- look at that face of happiness!

I also had it on the brain to make a library tote for her (and my 2 other kids) for some time now and feel the bag addiction sneaking up on me. Check out the Penny patch. A kind reader sent this to me around Christmas and I was so happy to use it. I am eager to see where Penny will use it as she becomes a teenager. I can imagine it on a coat or bag- a patch I can imagine will be with her for life. Funny, huh? I love it.

I just love the age of 3! It’s pretty challenging because it’s an age of transition from baby to preschooler. But now that she is my last and will be the last to potty train and become a bit more independent I am so excited for HER. What better way to celebrate her new age than to dance with these ribbon hoops. I have always loved the ones that are at our local Children’s Museum and decided they were perfect and easy to make. Plus, who doesn’t love to have a reason to go buy a few yards of ribbon!?

So- how did I make them? I found some decorative hoops at my craft store in the clearance section. They had hangers screwed into them that I easily took out and just tied a bunch of ribbon to each hoop. Fun, huh?

By the way, my sister is safely back from China. She took so many photos of her trip and I plan to post tomorrow. I am really excited to share them with all of you!

3!

First- I know, I know…In Monday’s post I ended it with a “see you next week”, and it’s only been four days. Honestly, it has been a tough week and I just need to make contact with the outside world. Having my niece with us has been really nice for all, but like any other 2 year old she misses her family. Resulting in many, many fights and tears…and me trying to be as diplomatic and perky…anyway…

I wanted to share this Easter bonnet I have made for another niece of mine. I used the pattern from Angry Chicken’s pattern and I really do need to make more. My 3rd grader asked for her own bonnet for the upcoming summer which totally delights me. I need to exhibit self-control because I want to fulfill her request right away, but I have some other projects that need completion before the soon to be 3 year old’s (below) birthday.

Can’t wait to show the goods…is it wrong to be envious of a doll’s wardrobe?

There…that felt better, just to spend a few minutes to write, share a project and post a few photos. Now I must indulge and eat this malted mousse cake. Thanks to my sister.

Last week, there was a lot of commotion in our neighborhood. Loud chainsaws, branches breaking, shouting…you get the idea.

At first I thought the man in the branches was making a heroic effort of trimming an old, beautiful tree. Imagine my surprise when we saw this majestic piece of nature get hacked down to a sad looking 15ft. stump. So sad.

Obviously my neighbor paid a lot for this service and there was a huge concern that the diseased tree would collapse onto his house…definitely a possibility with the storms we get in the Spring.

But still…I am still so sad. And yeah, the guy in the tree WAS incredible. I have never seen a person dangle from branch to branch with a chainsaw. Yikes.

Better go- I am spending most of the week trying to keep the peace between Peppy and Lulu.

See you all next week.
