kidding around

Last week I was crazy. Besides having my 2 year old niece with us, I was attempting to make most of Peppy’s birthday gifts, a few Easter surprises… and well…I did succeed. Why oh why do I put myself through such challenges?! It’s like I get an idea and if I think about it for a second and start to formulate a plan and start picking out the fabric I have to FINISH. It’s sort of a sickness.

I need to start thinking- RELAX. But sewing is relaxing, I just don’t need a list of 10 projects going on with a deadline.

Anyway, enough of my “to do” sickness. The above girls were given to my daughters and niece for Easter. They all look so cute in their matching dresses and crowns. The crowns were for helping celebrate Peppy’s birthday since we just made Sunday one big celebration. WARNING: this post contains a lot of photos.

I used the Purl Bee’s rabbit pattern again and had fun with the hair and of course making the clothes! Is it odd to be envious of doll clothes? After all this doll and clothes production, I figured Penny would love to wash them and hang it all out to dry…so, the Magic Cabin pulled through and delivered the cutest clothes line. I won’t be surprised if I find myself playing with it!

I also had it on the brain to make a library tote for her (and my 2 other kids) for some time now and feel the bag addiction sneaking up on me. Check out the Penny patch. A kind reader sent this to me around Christmas and I was so happy to use it. I am eager to see where Penny will use it as she becomes a teenager. I can imagine it on a coat or bag- a patch I can imagine will be with her for life. Funny, huh? I love it.

I just love the age of 3! It’s pretty challenging because it’s an age of transition from baby to preschooler. But now that she is my last and will be the last to potty train and become a bit more independent I am so excited for HER. What better way to celebrate her new age than to dance with these ribbon hoops. I have always loved the ones that are at our local Children’s Museum and decided they were perfect and easy to make. Plus, who doesn’t love to have a reason to go buy a few yards of ribbon!?

So- how did I make them? I found some decorative hoops at my craft store in the clearance section. They had hangers screwed into them that I easily took out and just tied a bunch of ribbon to each hoop. Fun, huh?

By the way, my sister is safely back from China. She took so many photos of her trip and I plan to post tomorrow. I am really excited to share them with all of you!
