old soul

Last week, there was a lot of commotion in our neighborhood. Loud chainsaws, branches breaking, shouting…you get the idea.

At first I thought the man in the branches was making a heroic effort of trimming an old, beautiful tree. Imagine my surprise when we saw this majestic piece of nature get hacked down to a sad looking 15ft. stump. So sad.

Obviously my neighbor paid a lot for this service and there was a huge concern that the diseased tree would collapse onto his house…definitely a possibility with the storms we get in the Spring.

But still…I am still so sad. And yeah, the guy in the tree WAS incredible. I have never seen a person dangle from branch to branch with a chainsaw. Yikes.

Better go- I am spending most of the week trying to keep the peace between Peppy and Lulu.

See you all next week.

That is sad but does make sense. At least he was not cutting it down b/c he did not like it or b/c it blocked a view or some other silly reason
What a great photo!

Ah what a shame. A huge 100+ year old fir tree was cut down in my neighborhood last year . The guy said it was too “messy”. He carved a friggin’ bear out of the stump. No lie. Tragic.

I met a woman from your church yesterday! And wouldn’t you know it, I forgot her name. She’s your choir director and the cousin of my priest’s wife. Very nice woman who had such great things to say about your family ( I hear your children are very well behaved in church : ) ) Anyways, I sent my hellos to you and yours with her. Have a blessed holy week.

We hate to see big trees come down like this too! My husband is an aborist ( so is the man dangling in the tree ) and removes trees like this everyday! What is comforting to know is that when a tree is healthy they do everything in their power to keep the owners from removing an established tree and just prune it for them, but sadly there is a lot of disease in trees. My husband tries to plant one tree for everyone he cuts down, to balance it out and make him feel better.

Weep! A few years ago we had a huge storm that felled several big old trees in my neighborhood. So sad… I still miss them.
