A day

Filed under: Kids, out in the world — admin at 10:16 am on Friday, October 6, 2006

Happiness is spending a day with your 3 kids. Taking the train. Seeing the city. Being together. But…

it can also be extremely frustrating and test a Mama’s patience. This little sas had her moments…can you tell by my expression. I wasn’t impressed. But I did have fun and the kids did too. I have come to the conclusion that although it is important to take these sort of adventures I personally can not enjoy them. Maybe when they are older- but until then, we will tackle our day together and get through it.

Happy Weekend.

Oh I KNOW that expression – I think our little girls are about the same age – your hair still looks* dynamite* though ;o)
I allways wonder, at the end of a whole day out, what the heck I could do different….and I “only” have 2 kids….well 3 including Steen…..he can be quite a pain ;o) Especially if we go to Copenhagen, he hates big cities. Just so happens that my brother lives there….hmmm…

firstly, your daughter is truly lovely.

secondly, I SO SO SO hear you. I would be fine with my 2 older ones (they’re verbal! they obey! they can walk unattended without my worrying that they will flee into traffic!) but the toddler. oy. the toddler makes my days long and my head ache and my legs hurt and my teeth grind.

i will miss having babies but will be so glad when he grows up a bit more. then we’ll ALL have fun.

Such beautiful children you have! I so understand what you’re saying. I dream of the day that we can all go somewhere and all have a good time. Right now outings are too stressful for this mama.

Your look in the last picture is one I know I’ve had on my face more and more. My son is really starting to embrace his two-ness and my daughter is at the fling yourself on the ground and hit your head phase (she’s 10 months). No is coming out of my mouth more and more. I hate that. I am trying to stay positive, though, and hope this will pass very quickly and not well on into the three’s.
You’ve probably done this, but it’s neat to scroll down the page and see Ellie on the seesaw. It’s like a flip book.

Ah yes, “the expression”.

It’s lovely to get a photo of you, though!

When Willem was small, and it was just him and no siblings, I would press him into the car seat with my knee while buckling as he screamed. I would be screaming also, just to be heard, that we were going to the museum, and it was fun for kids. He would scream all the way from Jefferson Park to the Museum of Science and Industry.

Wrung out and hoarse, I would escort my little pride and joy to the children’s portion of the museum, which was total fun for kids, where he would proceed to enjoy himself for our allotted time. I think at that time, if you came early enough, you could spend 40 minutes.

When it was time to go, again with the knee, again with the screaming. I tell him these stories today to remind him that, eventhough he may not want to do something, he should trust my judgment that he will enjoy it.

Oh those little girls dresses are incredibly cute, and I do know what you mean about going on a train trip, but you were brave taking three of them. Gorgeous kids by the way, and I think the dress looks cute with white tights too.
