more sewing

This weekend was slightly productive in the sewing scene. I made this dress for Penelope yesterday and it was super easy. It literally took me maybe 2 hours to make. That’s from cutting out to sewing up the hem…plus a million interruptions and my indecisiveness with fabric and ribbon.

I used more of the 10cent cordurouy I bought at my dream garage sale and the ever popular polka dotted fabric. I have seen the dotted fabric in a lot of people’s projects and it’s fun to see how it is used. I’ve been holding on to my 2 yards since March and I am thrilled I still have a bit left.

I am happy with the results. My only disappointment is that the bias tape came undone after a morning of wear so I will have to fix that problem. I really do hate having to “fix” something. When I am done- I don’t want to go back to the project again. I suppose I am a perfectionist.

Here’s a shot of Ellie with the previous dress I posted on Friday. See how I need striped tights or something?! Still cute!

Okay, I am off to cut out a few more dresses.

    Carol,

I love that dress! The colours, the fabric, the pinafore effect! Love it!

super cute! love the red cord with that fabric. (btw, did you see the quilted version - what a cute backpack that would make…)

that pinafore is adorable. you have been busy this weekend ; )

I saw striped girl’s tights at Marshall’s recently…about $5/pair and several colorways. Might be worth a look if you have one around.

I’m love these 2 dresses and can’t wait to see what else you made for them.

I too, spent Friday night cutting and sewing a top for winter (I think we use the same pattern as you it seems) for my oldest daughter. She loves her summer one and I decided to take the plunge as you have and used the light blue corduroy material with a bright floral corduroy print for accent. She wanted short sleeves and the elastic this time in the arms so she can wear her orange or white long sleeve tee underneath it.

These dresses are SO cute. I’ve really been wanting to get my hands on a sewing machine and see what happens. I wanted to let you know, you inspired me with your banners so I gave it a go and made a birthday banner for my god daughters. I tried to be creative and add my only twist to things. It was so much fun! I will be making more for my neice and nephew. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
