getting ready for some babes

As I have mentioned many times, my sister is expecting her first child. Obviously we are anxious to meet this sweet little girl. Like every baby, many family and friends are eager to finally see tiny toes, ears, and a perfectly round mouth!

So I guess to make time go by, I quickly agreed to make my sister bumper pads.

Now- not only am I making one set, but another set as well. We are all crazy excited to meet their other child…her name is Ruby and will be adopted from China (my other sister has Jane Lu). How fortunate can they (and us, too!) be?!

When I was pregnant with Penny, I made her a set of bumper pads for a portable wooden crib we used. I liked the challenge of “figuring” out a pattern and making something for the forthcoming babe. I also liked the over stuffed look…actually, like little pillows.

Anyway, I will be giving the first set to my sister tonight. We are members of a really terrific book club and I am hosting the meeting…it’s sort of a “book” shower for her too! Okay, better start making those pizzas!

So lovely - this is one of those times I’m kicking myself, thinking, jeesh - “Why didn’t that ever occur to me?” with my two girls! Oh well. What a lucky sister you have! Are you selling the second set?

These are so cute and I am glad I actually got to see them in real life. I am bummed, also, that I didn’t think of this when my babies were little.

adorable - love the fabrics and the over-stuffed-ness. my sis made my bumper pads, too! and my glider cover, and a cribskirt, and some curtains… i was a greedy little thing :)

so happy for your family to be welcoming a new joy - i just became an aunt again to little Maxwell. such fun and love.

The girls will love looking at all the wonderful color! How far apart in age will the girls be? How soon after the birth will Ruby arrive? Or will they go to China? Or? So exciting!!!!! I am thrilled for them and you all!

the bumper pad is beautiful. I love the overstuffed look, but would never have thought of it, until seeing how nicely you made yours! so much better than so many store bought versions I see…just lovely.

How beautiful! I have yet to make my almost 4 month old daughter a bumper for her crib. This is exactly the look I want. What did you use to stuff it with?

[…] This shirt pattern that I love and have made about 6 for my girls has gone Fall/ Winter. I used 10 cent cordurouy and leftover fabric from my sister’s bumper pad project. Fun, huh? I love using what I have because honestly, I can’t justify buying more fabric until I use some up! […]
