What a wonderful idea – my son loves his scrapbook and a special one for the summer sounds great. It’s so nice that they can use their own ideas in your framework too. The scope of kids inventiveness knows no bounds. Hope you all enjoy using them.

what a wonderful idea. my oldest is not quite at the independent journal-keeper age, but we could definitely do something like this together. What a wonderful idea for summer. I also like the idea of picking out themes for each week and using this to guide our trips to the library…you are full of great ideas!

My hubby and I can provide lots of info on South Korea, Bosnia/Hercegovina, and Kosovo, as we’ve been stationed there, and have quite a few odds and ends we brought back (currency, photos, souvernirs, etc, plus a little command of each language).
It looked like you had these printed out…do you have a template? My munchkin is only a year old, but I know lots of people who’d love to do something like this, and eventually Christian will be old enough!

I think your journal idea is really great, especially focusing on a topic they’re interested in and a state/country. Oh, and their cooking. We don’t do big family vacations, either. But we do try to go some place meaningful during the summer.
Also, I finally made it through your archives. Glad I found your blog. I really do enjoy it – the creativity you share, the obvious love you have for your family, and the new ideas tha tinspire me. Thanks for that.
