kidding around

These first 2 shots are from my Saturday spree with Nathan. I just love them all. But my favorite is the yellow and orange flowers. I can’t wait to put it on my Thanksgiving table.

I know, I know. If you don’t need it, then it’s not a deal. I went back to my favorite store looking for a couple vases and came home with these treasures. I really don’t like having a lot of decorations for the holidays…honestly, I dislike storing it all, but I could not pass these up!

These are runners. I assume they are meant for a buffet or table. Their shape is sort of oval…they were a steal.

I think these are napkins or just little over lays. The red is so terrific.

So when I was checking out yesterday. I chatted with an older woman and I noticed she had a small glass dish with a lid. She uses them just like most America uses “Rubbermaid”…I have been thinking about collecting more of those dishes for leftovers and such. They are pretty cheap at thrift stores and garage sales. Plus, all those plastic toxins aren’t mariinating into your food, you know? So maybe instead of making a bea line to the linens, I’ll go to the glassware. i don’t know, will they photograph well?

From time to time, Simon wants to give himself a hair dude (really, “do”, but he pronounces it “dude”). It is so darn cute that I had to capture the event. This particular sequence occurred right before we needed to rush out of the house…he was in no hurry.

And here he is. I sure hope this does not indicate his future vocation…he looks like a politician. At least by then perhaps the parties will be respectable.

Anyway, he is my sweet Simon. He told me today that he loved me as big as a dinosaur. I’m a happy mama.

Okay, here are shots of Simon’s new room. I swear I do have other things to do in my life than take photos of his room, but it is such a nice distraction! I made the throw pillows last week and the blankets at the bottom were made awhile back. Nice to see they have more of a permanent home.

Just so you know, if you plan to visit, I promise to take down the sides.

This is the puppet theatre I wrote about a few weeks back. I did make blue and white polks dotted curtains, but remember, I have been distracted.

i love the lighting in his room. he also has a pretty big closet (thank goodness, since we have no garage) and great slanted ceilings.

i made the mistake of telling the kids that i used the toy box in Si’s room as my secret place for halloween candy…well…Simon thought he was smart to hide it behind the toy box!

oh boy-some unsupervised snacking going on in the closet! maybe i should just let the kids eat nothing but candy for the next day. that way, they will be so tired of it!

Penny loves her brother’s room, she barges in every morning and hops on the horse!

the kids had so much fun last night. Ellie was a mermaid, Simon a skeleton, Penny an elephant!

we had a touch of rain, but a fun night with family…slurping tortilla soup.
