perfect?

This week has been a heck of a week! Like every family in the world, we are busy. It doesn’t help when you throw a couple sick kids in the mix and you are completely off base!

Simon has been sick with a fever, croop (sp?) and other symptoms for the past few days. Actually, my parents had to leave Ohio a few hours earlier than planned because of the poor sick pup. He missed school this week, and now that he is feeling better, he is a rascal and really testing patience! He has been bugging me to make him a blanket (he has 3 already), so out of sympathy for him I decided to make him one yesterday. Well by the end of today, I wanted to wrap him up in his new, cozy blanket and ship him off to Alaska! Kidding, really…but this was the reality around 4:17 this afternoon. I won’t go into details, but it involved kicking and is was not me doing it!

On to Penelope! This little darling screams my name constantly…”MAMA” in my ear, across the room, in the car, at the store, as my alarm clock! Geesh, you would think I never answered! I do- everytime, probably that is the mistake!

Anyway, 2 mornings in a row I have not been able to find my car keys while we are scrambling to make it to school on time. Fortunately I have an extra in my wallet (reserved for winter engine warm-ups!). But of course once I am home I can not rest until I find the keys. The first day I was fearful that the keys went out with the recycling (I came to this conclusion while watching the truck pick up our stuff and I went numb). The second day I had NO clue! Both days I found them in obscure spots, boy I am getting good at this! (see previous “Found” post) Check out the keys in this little darling’s chubby clutch.

Here is Ellie with her Brownie vest on…minutes from leaving for school! She is such a delight and easy to please that I had to just include this shot of her. Last night I spent a great deal of time catching up on ironing patches, about 13 for today. I am so glad that she is content with just this involvement! I actually really don’t feel as busy as most families in America!

I took this of Beatrice after she returned home. See, she thought she could barge out of our front door and chase after a cat. I felt bad for her. She actually thought she could hunt a cat and get into a squabble! Oh Bea…just go in the corner and sleep!

And finally, I miss my sweet Nathan Ariel. He works so hard and takes classes on Monday and Tuesday nights that I am tempted to kidnap him every so often! Our family is not complete without his presence and it all seems more like “work” without him! I miss the college years of when time really did seem to stand still. I’m glad we have our blogs and can catch up on our days…ouch, that is pathetic!

Anyway, without sharing more tales, you can see that this family is a PERFECT picture of normal. At times it can be a 3 ring circus and it can really test my patience and attitude. I am really put into my place when I realize that if my perspective on the day is not changed, my kids are so good at picking up on it and that is no good…on to tomorrow. I know what need to do, start a new “stitching” project!
