    • This past week has been a big transition for our family, especially me!

For one, Nathan is back at achool which means I can no longer rely on him to care for Penny while I snooze for a couple more hours OR run a simple errand without bringing the whole “gang” with me. So my reality came to a crashing wake up last Monday morning. BUT, most of all I miss seeing him and chatting with him throughout the day. Although we were extremely busy this summer we weren’t so locked into a routine. Oh well- that’s at least one benefit of being married to a teacher!

Of course, Ellie turned 6 last Sunday which I was dreading all summer. It wasn’t terrible, but for some reason 6 sounds like a “KID”…I am eager for her to experience this time of her childhood, but selfishly I want her to be Penny’s age…

Another big change was Ellie began first grade. She LOVES it and enjoys the responsibility of making her lunch, getting dressed, being dropped off and walking into school by herself.I thought I would experience some tears from her but there was no way I could get an ounce of regret for growing up from her! The second day of school I actually experienced some tears, but that’s to be expected. I was proud of her, but also sad to see my girl walk away…I enjoy our talks, her artwork, teaching her to read, reading, etc. BUT this time is for her and she is so happy to be with kids- SO I will be happy for her…As many you know, I homeschooled Ellie kindergarten last year so this was a big change for me!

On the bright side, I have my Simon and Penny. Simon is much more of a pleasure and interested in staying still for me to read with him, play with clay, etc. So, I will know that our time will be invaluable.

Fortunately nothing HUGE has changed with my Penelope Tess- of course she is growing, cooing and smiling all of the time, but she isn’t going to school, getting married or moving across country…yet.
